Wine Makes a Great Gift
I am often surprised at how intimidating buying wine is for many people, so gifting wine can be a wonderful relief and fun adventure combined! For those of you reading this, you probably know much more about wine than most of your friends. You can use this expertise as a gift to others! Here’s some thoughts:
Everybody loves a good story! “This winery has been making wine since 1683!” “This is a husband and wife team that are really committed to German varietals/organic farming/giving back to their community.” “This wine reminds me of the time we trained together/ traveled together/ worked together.” Make sure to include these stories in the card as they are so unique and bonding, and wine is a natural expression of memories and accomplishments.
Even if you don’t know exactly what the person loves, there are some general winners. Once you get into the $40 range, you are spending more than the majority of people on wine so it’s already a treat. Cabernet Sauvignon is loved the world round for a great reason; it is delicious! For white, Sauvignon Blanc is a tasty, classic, and safe bet. For bubbles, get “Brut” (meaning dry) since it’s the most popular right now. If there is a review about the wine that inspires you, include it in the gift bag. Everything adds value and fun!
Wine can interest on so many levels! History buffs might enjoy wine from wine regions that are 8000 years old such as Georgia or Armenia. Fans might like to try a wine their favorite singer or athlete is drinking. Trendy folk may want to try the latest Orange wine or Pet Nat. Italian wine for someone with Italian roots could be just the perfect match. The ideas are endless!
If you need inspiration, come in to Vintage or Buvette and we will help you on this fun journey! Cheers!
